| Pack booters to compete in Wildcat Jamboree |

The Whiteville High School boys soccer team will take part in three scrimmages Saturday at the Wildcat Jamboree at Wilmington’s Legion Stadium. The event is hosted annually by New Hanover High School. Whiteville will go against Wilmington Ashley at 12:10 p.m., followed immediately by a match with Wilmington Laney at 1 p.m. Both scrimmages will be played on the Legion Stadium’s main field. At 3:30 p.m., Coach Mike Buckpitt’s Wolfpack will clash with Waccamaw Conference rival South Brunswick on the field adjacent to Legion Stadium. Whiteville will open its schedule Monday when it returns to Wilmington and for a 7 p.m., game with New Hanover. The Wolfpack, finished the 2006 season with a 12-8-1 record after advancing to the first round of the state 2A playoffs. Heading the list of WHS returnees are 2006 All-Region players Ian Hooks and Josh Butler.
