Spaulding is new principal of Whiteville Primary School

In the latest round of an un-precedented transition of local school principals, Hallsboro-Artesia Elementary School Principal Lynn Spaulding has been employed as the new principal of Whiteville Primary School.

Spaulding replaces Hope Kennedy High, who was named executive director of quality learning in the Whiteville City Schools administration earlier this summer.

Spaulding’s departure from Hallsboro-Artesia leaves that school with the seventh principal vacancy in the past two months.

West Columbus High School Principal Worley Edwards retired to take the headmaster’s post at Waccamaw Academy. He was replaced by Mark Brown, the school’s assistant principal.

Whiteville High School Principal Kyle Ramey retired and was replaced by John Westberg.

Central Middle School Principal Dr. Beverly Boone retired and was replaced by Frederick Hill.

Williams Township School Principal Mitch Nance retired and was replaced by assistant principal Jeff Spivey.

South Columbus High School Principal Dr. Maudie Davis retired and was replaced by Tabor City Middle School Principal Dale Norris.

Norris’ position at Tabor City Middle was filled by Kent Lovett.

The county also has two fewer principals with the closings of Nakina Alternative and Fair Bluff Elementary schools.

In other personnel action, the Whiteville City Schools approved the following:

At Whiteville Primary School, exceptional children’s teacher assistant Erica Thompson was reassigned from Edgewood Ele-mentary.

At Edgewood Elementary School, Bobbie Rorie was em-ployed as child nutrition assis-tant. Amy Medlin is the guid-ance administrative assistant and instructional tutor.

At Central Middle School, Priscilla Lance was employed as a computer skills teacher. Part-time teacher assistant Elizabeth Caraballo was reassigned as the computer math lab tutor.

Whiteville High School coun-selor Dorothy Capers has been reassigned to CMS.

Whiteville Primary School ex-ceptional children’s teacher as-sistant James Spears was reas-signed to CMS as a character de-velopment coordinator.

Exceptional children’s teacher Juanita Smith was let go because of a lack of funding.

WHS exceptional children’s teacher Melanie Mayberry was reassigned to CMS.

Part-time receptionist Kim Phillips was reassigned as a part-time teacher assistant.

At Whiteville High School, so-cial studies teacher Tyrone Frink resigned. He was replaced by Ebony Guinyard.

Edgewood exceptional chil-dren’s teacher Marietta Lee was reassigned to the same post at WHS.

CMS counselor Charlotte Ra-ney was reassigned as a counselor at WHS.

Lisa Gurkin was employed a math teacher.

Lisa Sowells was hired as a school counselor.

At North Whiteville Academy, central bookkeeper, secretary and data manager Cassandra Smith was reassigned as the Re-DIRECT facilitator.

At Central Services, Tina Godwin was employed as child nutrition bookkeeper and finan-cial secretary.

ReDIRECT coordinator Tonya Hannah was reassigned as be-havioral support liaison.
