The Columbus County All-Stars defeat St. Charles Parish, La., 8-6 to win the Jr. Dixie Boys (age 13) World Series at Sulphur. La. It is the only Dixie Boys World Series title ever won by a North Carolina team. The 2001 championship squad includes Ryan McCleney, Devon Brown and Scott Stephens, who were members of the 2007 Columbus County All-Stars, who won the Dixie Majors (ages 15-19) Baseball World Series championship last Thursday at Florence, S.C.
