WA sweeps Coastal Christian

WILMINGTON - Waccamaw Academy took wins in both the boys and girls basketball games with host Coastal Christian Academy Tuesday night.

In a thriller of a girls game, Waccamaw Academy’s Caroline Scott sank both ends of a 1-and-1 with seven seconds left to lift the Lady Warriors to a 31-29 victory.

Scott scored a game-high 15 points for the Lady Warriors, who improved to 2-7. Alyssa Faulk added seven points. Waccamaw Academy led at halftime 13-11.

The Warrior boys team upped its record to 8-1 by coasting past Coastal Christian 52-12. Chaz Green led WA scorers with 21 points.

Chris Richardson scored nine points and Ayub McAllister tallied eight as the Warriors built a 15-3 first-quarter lead and held a 34-5 halftime advantage.

Waccamaw Academy will play in the Cape Fear Academy Christmas Tournament Dec. 20-21 in Wilmington.
