The Monday, Dec. 24 edition of The News Reporter will be printed Friday, Dec. 21 and distributed during the weekend so that employees may spend Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with their families. The Thursday, Dec. 27 and Monday, Dec. 31 editions will be printed and distributed on those days. The N.C. Museum of Forestry will be closed for Christmas on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, Dec. 24, 25, 26, and will be open limited hours, 1 to 5 p.m., on Thursday and Friday, Dec. 27-28. The museum will be closed on New Year’s Day. Banks and post offices will be closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, with some banks closing early on Christmas Eve. Columbus County offices, including the courthouse, will be closed Dec. 24, 25 and 26 and on Jan. 1. Columbus County and Whiteville City school students were released early Wednesday and will return on Jan. 2. Municipal offices in Whiteville, Lake Waccamaw, Tabor City and Fair Bluff will be closed Dec. 24, 25 and 26 and on Jan. 1. Chadbourn town hall will be closed Dec. 24 and 25, and on New Year’s Day. Columbus County libraries will close at 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21 and reopen on Thursday, Dec. 27. They will be closed Jan. 1.
