A Christmas wish

Following is an editorial The News Reporter runs each year in its edition just before Christmas. It was written by Leslie S. Thompson, who was publisher of The News Reporter from 1938 to 1958.

The staff of The News Reporter wishes all of our readers a happy and joyous Christmas.

Were I allowed only one wish at Christmas, I would ask for a truly grateful heart to express my apprecition to a merciful and loving Heavenly Father for his supreme gift to the world of His only Begotten Son, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, whose birthday we celebrate at Christmas.

In my wish I would also ask for the simple faith of a little child and the humility and obedience to God’s will as shown by Jesus throughout his life on earth.
I would also ask for a desire like His to share myself and services with my fellowman, that I might be more worthy of Him and his constant, loving care.
In conclusion, my wish would contain the hope for all people everywhere that this will be a happy Christmas filled with peace and good will for all.
