W. Columbus boys crush Red Springs 86-42

CERRO GORDO – The second-seeded West Columbus High boys basketball team scored 51 points in the first half Monday night en route to an 86-42 victory over visiting Red Springs in opening round boys action of the Southeastern Conference Tournament.

Senior guard Chaz Everette led the way for the Vikings with 23 points, nine rebounds, nine steals and four assists in less than three quarters, Mikey Bilal followed with 15 points and Kendall Bullock had 10 for the Vikings, who won for the 19th time in 22 games this season.

William Jackson was high scorer for Red Springs with 13 pints and Chris Williams had 15. The seventh-seeded Red Devils made a good first-quarter showing as they trailed 23-19 after the first eight minutes.

West Columbus took charge in the second quarter, outscoring the Red Devils 28-6.

West Columbus played host to third-seeded East Bladen in Wednesday night’s tournament semi-final round. (See result in A-section).
