Wilcox watch

Chris Wilcox

Seattle SuperSonics power forward Chris Wilcox (photo at right) made a visit to Columbus County this past weekend during the National Basketball Association All-Star break. Last Wednesday, the Sonics took a 114-90 homecourt victory over the Phoenix Suns with Wilcox scoring five points and grabbing seven rebounds. Seattle, now holding a 20-32 season record, will resume its schedule on Tuesday when it plays host to the Memphis Grizzlies.

The South Columbus Lady Stallions battle back from an 11-point deficit to defeat South Brunswick 40-33 in the opening round of the Waccamaw Conference Basketball Tournament at the East Bladen High gym in Elizabethtown. Junior Christy Bellamy scores 17 points for Coach Meredith Lay’s SCHS squad, which puts its season record at 12-10.
