| SCHS girls eliminated
RED SPRINGS - The Southeastern Conference champion Red Springs Lady Red Devils dominated first-half play Wednesday as they defeated the South Columbus Lady Stallions 58-36 in the opening round of the state 2A girls high school basketball playoffs. Amanda Sinclair scored 18 points and Cassandra Bell tallied 15 for Red Springs, which put its season record at 23-2. Red Springs led at halftime 36-13. Amanda Dowe led South Columbus with 16 points as the SCHS girls closed their season with an 8-16 record.
