| WCHS girls drop one-point heartbreaker
Viking boys bump Mustangs CERRO GORDO With Chaz Everette scoring 25 points and giving out nine assists, the West Columbus Vikings closed out their Southeastern 1A-2A Conference regular-season schedule Tuesday night with a convincing 71-49 victory over visiting South Robeson. Coach Michael Powell’s West Columbus team holds a 10-2 record in the conference and still holds hope of getting a share of the conference championship if third-place East Bladen (8-3) can defeat first-place West Bladen (10-1) Friday. West Columbus, now with a 16-4 season record, will play host to 4A Wilmington Laney Friday in a non-conference game. Mikey Bilal had 11 points for the Vikings, who placed 11 players in the scoring column. Everette connected on four 3-point shots and Bilal knocked in three 3-pointers. Center Mario Cisneros contributed 10 rebounds and seven points. West Columbus led 38-17 at the half and led by as many as 34 points in the second half before Powell made liberal substitutions in the late stages. Kyle Oxendine had 13 points for South Robeson, whose conference record now stands at 3-8. Jordan Hunt scored 12 and Corey Thompson had 11. South Robeson pulled out a 34-33 win in the girls game after West Columbus held the lead most of the way. Andrea Godwin led the Lady Vikings with eight points. Daniesha Baker had seven points while Alex Ward scored six points and collected nine rebounds. The Lady Vikings closed conference play with a 0-12 record and have a 1-19 season record. BOYS GAME
