Chris Wilcox Although he had an off-night shooting, former Whiteville High basketball star Chris Wilcox still played a big role in helping pace the Seattle SuperSonics to a 99-72 victory Friday night over the visiting Milwaukee Bucks. The 6-foot-10 Wilcox managed only six points (including 2 of 9 shooting from the floor), but grabbed 11 rebounds as the Sonics won their third straight game and put thier season record at 17-25. Seattle now has a homecourt record of 12-9 and will play host to the Denver Nuggets on Tuesday. Wilcox,who helped carry the Maryland Terrapins to the 2002 NCAA championship, has started 41 of 42 games for the Sonics this season. On this date The Evergreen Greenies, bolstered by Linwood Hedgpeth’s 22 points, take a 46-40 victory over cross-county rival Hallsboro at the Evergreen gym. Dallas Cameron scores 16 points for Hallsboro, followed by Wendy Prescott with 14. The win avenges an earlier 52-41 loss to the Tigers at Hallsboro. Evergreen also wins the girls game 50-43, behind Carolyn Williamson’s 25 points, to also avenge an earlier loss. |
