Chris Wilcox

Chris Wilcox put up another double-double Tuesday night, scoring 25 points and getting 15 rebounds in the Seattle SuperSonics’ 117-112 NBA homecourt loss to the Denver Nuggetts and the high-octane scoring duo of Carmelo Anthony and Alan Iverson. Wilcox, the former Whiteville High School All-Stater, also had four assists as the Sonics saw a three-game winning streak snapped. Ray Allen had 44 points for the Sonics, who will wind up their current homestand against Minnesota on Friday and the L.A. Clippers on Sunday.

Mary Gore scores 37 points and Dorothy Faulk follows with 24 in leading the Nakina High School girls basketball team to a 73-58 victory over host Cerro Gordo. Cerro Gordo’s Peggy Greene scores a game-high 38 points. Cerro Gordo wins the boys game 73-69 with Edward Coleman leading the Yellow Jackets with 29 points, followed by Mickey Nance with 20. Charles Long leads the Nakina boys team with 21 points.
