South Columbus trips Riegelwood
to stay alive in state O-Zone tourney
 

RICHFIELD - The South Columbus All-Stars bounced back from a disappointing loss on Saturday to post an 15-1 victory over Columbus County rival Riegelwood Sunday in the second round of the North Carolina Dixie Youth O-Zone Baseball Tournament.

The South Columbus squad is scheduled to meet Reidsville National today at 3 p.m., in an elimination game.

South Columbus, the defending state O-Zone champion, got off to a rough start in the early innings in Saturday’s 12-4 loss to South Stanly.

Chadbourn and Riegelwood dropped back-to-back games to be eliminated from the eight-team tournament.

Chadbourn fell to Reidsville American 15-9 in Saturday’s opening round and was edged by Reidsville National 7-6 on Sunday after leading most of the way.

Riegelwood fell to North Granville 11-1 on Saturday before losing to South Columbus on Sunday.
