EDEN - The Whiteville Optimist All-Stars fell to Charlotte South Park 8-5 Wednesday morning in the fourth round of the North Carolina Dixie Youth AAA (ages 10-under) Baseball Tournament.
The loss eliminated the Whiteville team from state tournament play.
The game was postponed by rain on Tuesday and rescheduled for Wednesday morning
The Whiteville squad had posted its second straight tournament win Monday by defeating Rose Hill 8-4 in third round play. The game had a rain delay of 2 1/2 hours.
For the second straight game, Whiteville overcame an early 4-1 deficit to get a win.
Austin Reaves had two hits for Whiteville, and Bronson Best, C.J. Hammond, Bronson Best and Kendal Reynolds had one hit each.
Pait, Reynolds and Dylan Williams each pitched two innings.
Whiteville had opened the tournament Saturday with a 5-3 loss to Oxford, but it bounced back on Sunday to take a 13-4 win over Reidsville. |
