UNC-Pembroke signee
Morgan Patrick, a mainstay on the East Columbus High School softball team for the past three seasons, signs a national letter-of-intent last week to play at UNC-Pembroke. UNC-Pembroke competes in the Peach Belt (NCAA Division II) Conference. A standout infielder and one of the top hitters in school history, Patrick is pictured at the signing are her mother Tammy Patrick (seated left), ECHS principal Mark Bridgers (seated right) and ECHS softball coach Larry Williamson. Not pictured are her father Mike Patrick and her travel-team softball coach Jimmy Britt. Patrick helped pace the 2007 Lady Gators to the third round of the state 1A playoffs where they fell to state champion Pender. Patrick is currently playing for the Columbus County Dixie Deb All-Stars, who are competing this week in the 2007 Dixie Debs World Series at Marianna, Fla.
