The 2007 District 2 Dixie Youth (ages 11-12) Baseball Tournament will open Saturday, July 7, at Evergreen’s Bill Johnson Field.

The four team, double-elimination event will also include a four-team supplemental tournament for 11-year-olds.

Saturday’s first-round action will begin at 1 p.m., with a supplemental tournament game between Columbus County and Nakina, followed by a 3 p.m. supplemental game between Bladen County and Whiteville.

DY Tournament action will begin at 5 p.m., with Bladen County taking on Whiteville. At 7, defending champion Columbus County will clash with Nakina.

Tournament play will run through Tuesday or Thursday.

The DY Tournament winner will receive a berth in the 2007 North Carolina Dixie Youth Tournament, which is scheduled for July 21-27 at Dunn.

The remaining Columbus County Dixie Youth All-Star teams - South Columbus, Chadbourn and Riegelwood - have received automatic berths in the 2007 North Carolina Dixie Youth O-Zone Tournament that will open on July 14 at New London in Stanly County.
