ERIN FERRELL MEARES

WARSAW -- Erin Ferrell Meares, 33, of Greensboro, formerly of Warsaw, died June 8, 2007, in an auto accident.

Final rites will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 12, at Warsaw Baptist Church with burial in the Devotional Gardens. Community Funeral Home, Inc. of Warsaw is handling the arrangements.

She is survived by her husband, John Meares and son, Hayden Meares of the home; parents Jerry and Rhonda Ferrell of Warsaw; a sister, Kelly Guy and husband, Ashley Guy of Warsaw; grandmother, Ella Barefoot of Fayetteville; aunts and uncles, Sharon and Henry Kluttz of Salisbury, Robert and Sara Barefoot of Fayetteville, Terry Ferrell of Buies Creek; Vickie and Max Watson of Conover; nieces and nephews, Coby Thomas of Warsaw; Leo and Lynn Meares of Fair Bluff; mother-in-law and father-in-law, S.C. and Saundra Meares of Fair Bluff; brother and sister-in-law, Slade and Alma Meares of Fair Bluff.

FAIR BLUFF -- Robert Mears, 77, died Friday, June 8, 2007, at his residence. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by S&L Funeral Home of Fair Bluff.

Family will receive friends at the home of Robert Mears, 430 Elm St., Fair Bluff.

ATKINS

MULFORD, Ala. -- Geraldine Green Atkins, 73, died on Saturday, June 2, 2007, at UAB. She was a native of Columbus County and a resident of Munford for the past 30 years. She was a member of Harvest Bible Barn.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Atkins of Munford; three brothers, Aubrey Green, Jessie Green, Bill Green and three sisters, Myrtle Strickland, Cleo Rutherford and Louise Ward, all of Columbus County.

Final rites were held Tuesday, June 5, 2007, at the Chapel of Miller Funeral Home and Crematory with Larry Brooks and Jerry Lackey officiating. Burial followed in the Hillcrest Cemetery, Munford.

Survivors include her son, John Eric Atkins; daughters, Ernestine Camp, and Jerri Hughes; sister, Roxie Noble; grandchildren.

CHARLOTTE -- Betty Joe Phillip, 53, died Saturday, June 9, 2007, at Grand Strand Hospital, Myrtle Beach, S.C. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by S&L Funeral Home of Fair Bluff.

BLADENBORO -- James L. Faulkner, 76, died Saturday, June 9, 2007, at Bladen County Hospital. Arrangements will be announced by Peoples Funeral Home of Whiteville.

WHITEVILLE -- Katie Catherine Odom, 83, died Saturday, June 9, 2007, at Columbus Regional Healthcare. Arrangements will be announced by Peoples Funeral Home of Whiteville.

HALLSBORO -- Rev. Lonnie Earl Boone, 66, died Wednesday, June 6, 2007, at Columbus Regional Healthcare.

Final rites will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 12, at Christian Fellowship with Bishop Henry Richardson officiating. Burial will follow in Hallsboro Memorial Park. Peoples Funeral Home of Whiteville is handling the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife, Ida B. Boone; three sons, Lamar Boone of Pennsauken, N.J., Gregory Boone of Beacon, N.Y., and Lonnie O’Neil Boone of Fayetteville; his mother, Sarah Boone of Hallsboro; a sister, Valda Hazel of Hallsboro; a brother, Delbert Boone of Hallsboro; and a goddaughter, Debra Nicole Jones of Whiteville.

Viewing will be at the funeral home on Monday (today) from noon until 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 9-11 a.m. Viewing will be at the church Tuesday following the service. The family will receive friends Monday (tonight) from 7-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

CERRO GORDO -- Irene Mears Blackwell, 80, died Monday, June 11, 2007, at Columbus Regional Healthcare.

Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Worthington Funeral Home of Chadbourn.

Survivors include her husband, Aldred “Bob” Blackwell of the home; son, Dr. Michael W. Blackwell of North Wilkesboro; daughters, Ann M. Hinson of Cerro Gordo, Fran A Weller of Pilot Mountain, Sue Grainger of Loris, S.C., Barbara B. Green of Conway, S.C., and Shelia B. Godwin of Carolina Beach; sisters, Agnes Richardson of Lumberton, Sadie Herring of Fair Bluff; brother, C.D. Meares of Fair Bluff; 10 grandchlidren and 15 great-grandchlidren.

MARY INA RUSS DAVIS

HALLSBORO -- Mary Ina Russ Davis, 81, died Saturday, June 9, 2007, at Columbus Regional Healthcare. She was the daughter of the late Jasper Arley Russ and Mary Bell Long Russ and was preceded in death by her husband, Keith E. Davis; a son, Marion Arley “Joe” M. Hooks; three brothers and three sisters.

Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 12, at Whiteville Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. David Kelly officiating. McKenzie Mortuary of Whiteville is handling the arrangements.

Survivors include her son, Shelton Hooks of Chadbourn; two grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Monday (tonight) from 7-8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Carolyn T. High Memorial Library, Whiteville, N.C. 28472.

DONALD RAY SMITH

WHITEVILLE -- Donald Ray Smith, 53, died Friday, June 8, 2007, at Columbus Regional Healthcare.

Final rites will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, at Brunswick-Waccamaw Baptist Association Building. Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Bladenboro. Peoples Funeral Home of Whiteville is handling the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife, Eva Mae Smith; three daughters, Sharika S. Faison and Tracy Wilson of Whiteville, and Angeline Currie of Lumberton; two sons, Ervin Currie Jr. of Florence, N.J. and Donald D. Smith of Whiteville; his mother, Callie M. Smith of Whiteville; and a sister, Brenda G. Bryant of Kinston.

Viewing will be at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 12 from noon until 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Viewing will be at the Association Building Wednesday following the service.
