Former Whiteville High School pitching sensation Woody Boykin signs a contract with the Minnesota Twins after taking part in tryout camp at Red Springs. The right-handed Boykin is the only one of 75 hopefuls offered a contract at the day-long tryout camp. A week later, Boykin reports to the Twins’ Class A minor-league team in Melbourne, Fla.
