Regular-season runnerup BB&T wasted no time in getting the upper hand on regular-season champion News Reporter in Monday’s final of the Whiteville Optimist Dixie Youth Baseball Tournament.

Honeycutt pitched a three-hitter and also went 3-for-3 at the plate. Catcher Ryan Ciamillo also went 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles.

Nick Ciamillo hit a triple and Austin Reaves doubled for BB&T. which scored three runs in the second inning and three more in the third. Geraldo Maggioli and Tyler Williamson added singles.

Trevor Sellers knocked a double while Mikie Foxworth and Colby Shelley had singles for News Reporter. Daylon Hucks was the losing pitcher, getting relief help from Tyquan McDonald.

News Reporter had won two of its three regular-season game with BB&T.

The tournament completed the 38th season of the Whiteville Optimist Dixie Youth Baseball League.
