Rambling with Ann

By ANN WORTHINGTON

Father’s Day has come and gone for another year, my friends, and I hope all fathers were honored in some sort of special way. I know my children were certainly wonderful to their father, and he was so appreciative.

I thought about my own father and tears came to my eyes as I thought about the few short years I had to enjoy him; however, the little time I had with him was priceless and some of the words of wisdom he gave to me are still as vivid to me today as they were many years ago.

I remember one of the things he told me was that when I started to drive a car, to always watch the other driver more than myself, and that would avoid many accidents. I find that to be so true.

My dad loved to preach more than anything and often times the preachers from some of the churches would ask my dad to fill the pulpit if they had to be away from their congregations. He was always delighted to do so.

My dad was a cheerful man with a big heart that filled a small frame. He had a wonderful sense of humor that would tickle the funny bone of neighbors and friends he would come in contact with.

Daddy loved driving the school bus and many rambunctious children were brought under control as my dad would lead us all in singing some wonderful old hymns as he drove along.

We all joined in and soon forgot to be even a little bit fussy with each other. He often felt sorry for the underprivileged. I know many times he bought things for children when I knew he needed the money for our own needs, but that was my dad.

Sometimes I see children acting so unappreciative to their dads and it breaks my heart. I lost my dad when I was at a young age. So many times I have wished I could tell my daddy how much I appreciate all the nice things he did for me. I would just love to put my arms around his neck just one more time.

So my friends, if your parents are still living, spend as much time as you can with them and let them know you care.

So until next time, may the good Lord keep you safe, and as always, be truly blessed each day.
