The 2007 District 2 Dixie Youth AA (coach-pitch) Baseball Tournament will open Saturday at Rotary Field at the Tabor City Recreation Complex.

The six-team double-elimination tournament for players ages 6-8 will run through Tuesday.
Saturday’s first game will have Chadbourn taking on Nakina at 3 p.m. At 5, Riegelwood will go against Bladen County. The final game of the opening round will begin at 7 with host South Columbus taking the field against Columbus County.

The District 2 champion will receive a berth in the North Carolina DY AA Tournament, July 7-11 at Leland.

Whiteville is the defending tournament champion, but it will not be sending a team to the tournament this year.

Nakina won district titles in 2005 and 2004, and Riegelwood claimed district crowns in 2003 and 2002.
