Former NBA player and coach John Lucas II, addresses Friday morning’s session. Like Wilcox, Lucas played college basketball at the University of Maryland. He is a native of Durham. His son, John Lucas III, plays for the NBA’s Houston Rockets.

Former N.C. State University basketball standout Marcus Melvin was a special guest at the camp. A native of Fayetteville, Melvin played professional basketball in Italy this past season.

HOMETOWN HERO - Chris Wilcox’s 6-foot-10 inch frame is mobbed by campers and other fans following Thursday’s camp session. More than 200 yougsters attended in the weeklong camp.
