Gator signs with Guilford

East Columbus High School baseball player Forrest Steed signs a letter-of-intent to play for Guilford College. Steed, a two-time Golden Glove winner as a first baseman for the ECHS squad, provided solid senior leadership as the Gators advanced to the third round of the state 1A playoffs, where they dropped a 10-inning heart-breaker to eventual state champion Princeton. The Guilford Quakers, coached by Nick Black, are members of the Old Dominion (NCAA Division III) Athletic Conference. Pictured with Steed at last week’s signing are his parents (seated) Jim and Kim Steed of Lake Waccamaw, and ECHS head baseball coach Karl Bracey (standing).
