West Columbus High School Principal, and former Whiteville City Schools assistant superintendent, Worley Edwards has been hired by Waccamaw Academy as its new headmaster, beginning in July.

Edwards, who is serving his second stint as WCHS’s principal, will retire from the public schools in June and replace Dr. Denning Buchter, who has helmed the Academy for two years. Buchter had already retired from the public schools.

Edwards’ departure creates the sixth change in leadership at WCHS in eight years.
