Stallions
take win
over EB

ELIZABETHTOWN - The South Columbus scored four runs in the first inning and got a complete-game pitching effort from junior Dusty Duncan Thursday in a 6-2 non-conference baseball victory over the host East Bladen Cougars.

South Columbus upped its season record to 4-3 and avenged a 10-9 homefield loss to the Eagles earlier this month.

“We didn’t get a whole lot hits, but we took advantage of some things early to get the early lead,” said SCHS head coach Willie Gore. “Dusty did a good job pitching for us.

“We’re glad to get the win we just need to get more consistent,” said Gore, whose Stallions tied Whiteville for the Waccamaw 1A-2A Conference championship last season.

South Columbus will travel to Leland Friday to take on the North Brunswick Scorpions in a Waccamaw 1A-2A Conference opener.

South Columbus will be the host team in the 2007 Jiggs Powers Memorial Baseball Tournament schedulde for April 9-11.
