WHS girls soccer
record now at 4-4

After gaining a win over Cape Fear Academy and absorbing losses to South Brunswick and Dixon last week, the Whiteville High School girls soccer team is carrying a 4-4 record, including a 1-1 mark in Waccamaw/Southeastern Conference play.

The Lady Wolfpack suffered a 7-1 loss to Waccamaw/Southeastern Conference stronghold South Brunswick last Monday at the WHS field with Sarah Gore scoring the lone goal for Whiteville.

On Wednesday, WHS tripped Cape Fear Academy 2-0 in Wilmington on goals by Gore and Mary Kindschuh.

On Thursday, Dixon came to Whiteville and posted a 3-0 shutout victory over WHS.

Coach Mike Buckpitt’s Whiteville team will travel to Rocky Point today for a 4:30 p.m., conference match with Trask.

On Friday and Saturday, Whiteville will compete in the Cape Fear Academy Tournament.

The Lady Wolfpack will face Gramercy Academy of Newport Friday in a 3 p.m., opening round game with the winner facing Friday’s Cape Fear Academy-Rocky Mount Academy winner on Saturday at 11:30 a.m..

Losers of Friday’ s opening round games will meet on Saturday morning at 10.
