Vikings fall to East Bladen
in battle for 1A playoff spot
LUMBERTON - The East Bladen Eagles, a team that has made a lot of strides since a mid-season struggle, ran to a 14-3 five-inning baseball victory over the West Columbus Vikings Monday in a playoff game for the Southeastern Conference’s No. 2 berth in the state 1A playoffs.
It was the fourth straight loss for West Columbus and its fifth setback in six games. The WCHS season record fell to 13-12.
Tripp Lancaster had a double and a triple for East Bladen while Quin Lancaster, Max Hartley and Malik Cromatie also had two hits each. Winning pitcher Jamie Warren had a double.
The Eagles scored six runs in the third inning to make the score 9-2 and they brought across five more runs in the fifth inning.
Warren pitched a three-hitter as EBHS took its second win three games with the Vikings this season.
Aaron Lowery had a double for WCHS. Bradley Cutrell and Truman Vereen also had Viking hits.
