OBITUARIES

KIRBY LEE PAIT

CLARKTON -- Kirby Lee Pait, 70, passed away on Wednesday, May 23, 2007, at Carol S. Roberson Hospice Center, Fayetteville.

Pait was born on April 25, 1937 in Bladenboro and grew up in the Bladenboro/Clarkton area. He was a 1955 graduate of Clarkton High School. He was an electrician, part-time farmer, and a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

He was preceded in death by an infant son; his parents, Eugene Wilson and Sarah Bradshaw Pait; his grandparents, David Timothy Jr. and Cornelia Callahan Pait, and George Lennon and Hattie Ward Bradshaw.

The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. at Bladen Funeral Home on Friday, May 25, with the service immediately following. Burial will follow in the Bullard Cemetery following the service. Bladen Funeral Home of Elizabethtown is handling the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Betty Davis Pait; three sons, Tony, Timmy, and Mark Pate, all of Clarkton; a daughter, Linda Carol Pate of Clarkton; four grandsons, Ashley Conner, Austin Pate, Adam Pate, Camden Clyde (C.C.) Pate; a granddaughter, Amanda Pate and one great-grandson, Kaleb Conner; three brothers, Bobby G. Pait and wife Joyce of Durham, George D. Pait of Bladenboro, and Claybourn L. Pait Sr. and wife Patricia of Pearl City, Hawaii; a sister, Joyce Pait Ellis and husband Philip R. Ellis of Ooltewah, Tenn.; and many nieces and nephews.

WARREN BRIGHT

WHITEVILLE -- Warren Hasty Bright, 69, died Wednesday, May 23, 2007. He was born Oct. 15, 1937 in New Hanover County, the son of Miriam Bright of Whiteville and the late Dewitt Bright. Prior to illness he was active in the family business, Bright’s Sandwich. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Whiteville.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Peacock’s Chapel In The Pines of Whiteville.

Survivors include his wife, Myrtle Stevens Bright; a son, Steven Dewitt Bright and wife, Dana of Whiteville; a daughter, Mary Warren Bright Barnette and husband, Rick of Wilmington; his mother, Miriam Bright; a brother, Keith Bright of Whiteville; and a grandson, Josh Bright of Whiteville.

ROSA GRAHAM WILLIAMS

EVERGREEN -- Rosa Graham Williams, 88, died Sunday, May 20, 2007, at Columbus Regional Healthcare.

Final rites will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 26, at Horace Grove Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Ronnie McCray officiating. Burial will follow in the Horace Grove Community Cemetery. Peoples Funeral Home of Whiteville is handling the arrangements.

Survivors include two daughters, Dorothy Williams of Whiteville and Vernell Williams of the home; a son, Jasper Williams of the home; five sisters, Mable Hester of Bladenboro, Helen Pittman of Whiteville, Claraette Williamson of Annapolis, Md., Thelma Louise McKoy of Philadelphia, Pa., and Elois Stanley of Evergreen; and a brother, Calvin P. Graham of Evergreen.

Viewing will be at the funeral home on Friday, May 25 from noon until 8 p.m. and Saturday, May 26 from 10 a.m. until noon. Viewing will be at the church Saturday from 1-2 p.m. and again following the service.

KENNETH RAY HINSON

CHADBOURN -- Kenneth Ray Hinson, 40, died Monday, May 21, 2007, at his residence. He was born in Columbus County, the son of Oscar Odell Hinson and Clara Pearl Norris Hinson.

Final rites will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 24 (today), at Beaverdam Freewill Baptist Church with the Reverends Jackie Godwin and Bradley Norris officiating. Burial will follow in the Hinson Cemetery, Chadbourn. Inman Funeral Home of Chadbourn is handling the arrangements.

Survivors include his parents, Odell and Pearl Norris Hinson of Chadbourn; and two brothers, Alvie Dale Hinson and Kevin Allen Hinson, both of Chadbourn.


LILLIAN WILLIE TAYLOR

FAIR BLUFF -- Lillian Willie Taylor, 64, died Sunday, May 20, 2007, at her residence. Born in Dillon County, S.C., Oct. 12, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Jesse Randolph Taylor and Martha Annie Taylor. She was a retired seamstress, and attended Melody Land Faith Chapel.

Final rites were held Wednesday, May 23, at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Greenlawn Cemetery. Cooper Funeral Home of Dillon, S.C. handled the arrangements.

Survivors include her daughter, Deborah Little of Fair Bluff; granddaughter, Amanda Little of Whiteville; grandson, David Edward Little of Whiteville; sisters, Angel Helton of Dillon, S.C., Mrs. J.C. “Gail” Hyatt of Maxton, Eva Lois Rowell of Hamer, Margaret Hewett of Leland, Joyce Ann Summerford of Latta, S.C., and Nancy Taylor of Dillon, S.C.; several nieces and nephews; very special friend, Robert Martin of Mullins, S.C.; special friend, C.H. Watson of Tabor City.

Taylor was preceded in death by her brothers, Billy, Isiah, and Elijah Taylor, and her husband, Henry Campbell.

DOROTHY HILBURN REEVES

NAKINA -- Dorothy Hilburn Reeves, 83, died Tuesday, May 22, 2007, at Rich Square. She was born Oct. 26, 1923 in Columbus County, the daughter of the late Cleve and Ella Gause Hilburn. She was the widow of Leo Reeves. Reeves was a member of Poley Bridge Baptist Church.

Final rites will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 25, at Peacock’s Chapel In The Pines with the Rev. Tim Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the Porter Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery. Peacock’s Funeral Home of Whiteville is handling the arrangements.

Survivors include a daughter, Joyce Bennett of Rich Square; a son, Michael Leo Reeves of Chattanooga, Tenn.; a brother, Bobby Earl Hilburn of Chadbourn; two sisters, Arlene Temple of Westminster, Md. and Leona Moulsdale of Fayetteville; and five grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday, May 24 (tonight) at the funeral home.

KATHLEEN INMAN

WHITEVILLE -- Kathleen Inman, 93, died Thursday, May 24, 2007. She was born Nov. 2, 1913. She was the widow of Marion L. Inman. She was a lifetime member of Western Prong Baptist Church.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Peacock’s Chapel In The Pines of Whiteville.

Survivors include a son, Larry Inman and wife, Linda of Shallotte; three grandchildren, Craig Inman and wife, Betty of Whiteville, Kathy Inman Kohler and husband, Mark of Savannah, Ga., Chris Inman McPherson and husband, Joey of Beaverdam; and eight great-grandchildren.

WILLIAM HAROLD
FORMYDUVAL

HALLSBORO -- William Harold FormyDuval, 60, died Sunday, May 20, 2007, at Columbus Regional Healthcare. He was the son of the late Graham FormyDuval and Clara Mae Hickman FormyDuval. He was a retired logger.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 24 (today), at Lake Waccamaw Hillcrest Cemetery. McKenzie Mortuary is handling the arrangements.

Survivors include two daughters, Regina FormyDuval of Whiteville and Christy FormyDuval of Ocean Isle Beach; a son, Harold Junior FormyDuval of Hallsboro; a brother, Joe FormyDuval of Hallsboro; four sisters, Gloria Buffkin of Kinston, Bobbie Stanley and Linda Pope and Shirley FormyDuval, all of Hallsboro; and seven grandchildren.

MARSHALL IVERSON ‘BILL’ PRINCE JR.

CLARENDON -- Marshall Iverson “Bill” Prince Jr., 78, died Sunday, May 20, 2007, at Sunbridge Nursing Home, Elizabethtown. He was born in Horry County, S.C., the son of the late Marshall Iverson Prince Sr. and Fannie Shaw Prince. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and a member of Antioch Baptist Church, Whiteville.

Final rites were held Wednesday, May 23, at the Inman Chapel with the Rev. David Watts officiating. Burial followed in the Princeville Cemetery, Loris, S.C. Inman Funeral Home of Tabor City handled the arrangements.

MARGARET ESTHER
SAVAGE TYER

BURGAW -- Margaret Esther Savage Tyer, 93, died Sunday, May 20, 2007, at the Huntington Health Care Center. She was born in Pender County on June 5, 1913 to the late Michael Julius and Mary Ella Malpass Savage.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James F. “Buck” Tyer Jr., her sister, Ruth Walker, and a great-granddaughter.

Tyer was an active member of Wrightsboro Baptist Church for more than 60 years. was involved in teaching and directed many weddings over the years.

Final rites were held Wednesday, May 23, at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel with the Rev. Mike Lewis officiating. Burial followed in Greenlawn Memorial Cemetery. Andrews Mortuary handled the arrangements.

Survivors include three sons, James F. Tyer II of Wilmington, William Michael Tyer of Morehead City, and Lynn Tyer of Nakina; and five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
