OBITUARIES

NORMAN CLEVELAND WHITE SR.

LELAND -- Norman Cleveland White Sr., 65, died Saturday, May 26, 2007. He was born Dec. 4, 1941 in Norfolk, Va., the son of Reba Williamson White of Whiteville and the late Norman Herbert White. He was employed with MCO Transport Inc. of Wilmington. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church.

Final rites will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 29, at Peacock’s Chapel In The Pines with the Rev. Vernon Williamson officiating. Burial will follow in Peacock’s Columbus Memorial Park. Peacocks Funeral Home of Whiteville is handling the arrangements.

Survivors include two sons, Norman “Ted” White Jr. and wife, Melissa of Whiteville and Chris White and wife, Gaye of Whiteville; his mother, Rebert “Reba” White; a brother, Larry White and wife, Sandra of Leland; a sister, Sandra “Sandy” White Barden of Whiteville; a granddaughter, Nicole White; and a fiance, Donna Padgett of Leland.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday, May 28 (tonight), at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Antioch Baptist Church, 1463 Antioch Church Road, Whiteville, N.C. 28472.

CATHERINE HINSON
BENNETT

LUMBERTON -- Catherine Hinson Bennett, 76, died Thursday, May 24, 2007, at Regency Hospital in Florence, S.C.

Final rites were held Sunday, May 27, at Floyd Memorial Chapel with the Reverends Tim Little and Joe Bounds officiating. Burial followed at Gardens of Faith Mausoleum. Floyds Mortuary & Crematory, Inc. of Lumberton handled the arrangements.

Survivors include her husband, John W. Bennett of the home; two sons, Jeffrey W. Bennett and Ron D. Bennett, both of Lumberton; two sisters, Lela Travis of Raleigh, and Dorothy Rich of Brunswick; and five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

KATHLEEN INMAN

WHITEVILLE -- Kathleen Inman, 93, died Thursday, May 24, 2007. She was born Nov. 2, 1913. She was the widow of Marion L. Inman. She was a lifetime member of Western Prong Baptist Church.

Graveside service was conducted Saturday, May 26, at Peacock’s Columbus Memorial Park with the Rev. Warren Hill officiating. Peacocks Funeral Home of Whiteville handled the arrangements.

Survivors include a son, Larry Inman of Shallotte; three grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

WILLIAM HAROLD
FORMYDUVAL

HALLSBORO -- William Harold FormyDuval, 60, died Sunday, May 20, 2007, at Columbus Regional Healthcare. He was the son of the late Graham FormyDuval and Clara Mae Hickman FormyDuval. He was a retired logger.

Graveside service was held Thursday, May 24, at Lake Waccamaw Hillcrest Cemetery with the Rev. Junior Tyler officiating. McKenzie Mortuary of Whiteville handled the arrangements.

Survivors include two daughters, Regina FormyDuval of Whiteville, and Christy FormyDuval of Ocean Isle Beach; a son, Harold Junior FormyDuval of Hallsboro; two brothers, Joe FormyDuval and Michael Ward, both of Hallsboro; five sisters, Gloria Buffkin of Kinston, Bobbie Stanley, Linda Pope, and Shirley FormyDuval, all of Hallsboro; and Gloria Chestnut of Holden Beach; and seven grandchildren.

WARREN BRIGHT

WHITEVILLE -- Warren Hasty Bright, 69, died Wednesday, May 23, 2007. He was born Oct. 15, 1937 in New Hanover County, the son of Miriam Bright of Whiteville and the late Dewitt Bright. Prior to illness he was active in the family business, Bright’s Sandwich. He was a licensed gemologist.He was a member of First Baptist Church of Whiteville and served in the North Carolina National Guard.

Graveside service was conducted Saturday, May 26, at Flynn Cemetery with the Rev. Kendall Cameron officiating. Peacocks Funeral Home of Whiteville handled the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife, Myrtle Stevens Bright; a son, Steven Dewitt Bright of Whiteville; a daughter, Mary Warren Bright Barnette of Wilmington; his mother, Miriam Bright; a brother, Keith Bright of Whiteville; and a grandson.

WILLIAM QUINTON
LENNON JR

ELIZABETHTOWN -- William Quinton Lennon Jr., 64, died Thursday, May 24, 2007, at SunBridge Care.

Final rites will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 29, at Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Evergreen with the Rev. John L. Daniels officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Lennon Cemetery in Evergreen. Peoples Funeral Home of Whiteville is handling the arrangements.

Survivors include his mother, Luetta Lennon of Evergreen.

Viewing will be at the funeral home on Monday (today) from noon until 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 9-11 a.m. Viewing will be at the church Tuesday following the service.

Friends may visit the family at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Albert Singletary, 20356 Highway 410 South, Bladenboro.

TABOR CITY -- Eudell Gerald, 74, died Friday, May 25, 2007, at Columbus Regional Healthcare.

BALTIMORE, Md. -- Lewis Henry Baldwin, 83, formerly of Hallsboro, died Friday, May 25, 2007, at Union Memorial Hospital.

DUNN -- Jean Margaret Thompson, 53, formerly of Bladenboro.

JULIAN EDWARD GUYTON

CLARKTON -- Julian Edward Guyton, 74, died Wednesday, May 23, 2007. He was a member of the North Carolina National Guard.

Final rites were held Saturday, May 26, at Western Prong Baptist Church. Burial followed in Bladen Memorial Gardens, Elizabethtown. Bladen Funeral Home of Elizabethtown handled the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife, Beulah Guyton of the home; and a sister, Dorothy Duncan of Whiteville.

ZEB MONROE

BLADENBORO -- Zeb Monroe, 79, died Sunday, May 27, 2007, at Columbus Regional Healthcare. He was predeceased by his parents, Blake and Faye Monroe; his wife, Valeria Bridger Monroe; a son, Zeb Byron Monroe; two brothers and two sisters.

Graveside service will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 29, at Pine Crest Cemetery in Bladenboro. Bladen Funeral Home of Elizabethtown is handling the arrangements.

Survivors include a daughter, Jettie Monroe Willoughby; three brothers, Lewis Monroe of Columbia, S.C., Bobby Monroe of Lancaster, S.C., and Ben Monroe of Grantsville, Ga.; four sisters, Dot Goodwin of Fayetteville, Ruth Britt of White Lake, Faye Canady of Whiteville, and Mary Helen Harris of Union, S.C.; and two grandchildren.

Vistation will be held at the home of Jettie and Jerry Willoughby, 1006 Paul Willoughby Road, Evergreen on Monday, May 28 (tonight) from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

JEAN GEDDIE KOONCE
ANDERSON

ALPHARETTA, Ga. -- Jean Geddie Koonce Anderson, 80, died Saturday, May 226, 2006 in Alpharetta. She was born in Wilmington, the daughter of the late Thomas Ricaud Koonce and Besse Geddie Koonce. She graduated from the Women’s College of The University of North Carolina in 1947 and taught high school English in North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia.

Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, at Spring Branch Baptist Church Cemetery, Nichols, S.C.. Meares Funeral Home of Fair Bluff is handling the arrangements.

Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Luther P. Anderson of the home; children, Douglas Carson Anderson, and Pamela Jean Anderson Chumley, and three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Tuesday, May 29, at Northside Chapel Funeral Home, 12050 Crabapple Road, Roswell, Ga. followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice in her memory.
