Camel Football Signees
Whiteville High School seniors Alex Royal (front row, in orange) and Harrison Jordan (front row, in white) sign national letters-of-intent Friday to play football for the brand-new football program at Campbell University. Royal, who is signing as a wide receiver, and Jordan as a quarterback, helped pace the 2006 WHS football team to a 9-3 record and its first Waccamaw Conference championship since 1993. Campbell is in the process of organizing its first-ever football program as a four-year school under recently hired head coach Dale Steele. The Camels will hold their inaugural season in 2008 as an NCAA Division I-AA affiliate. Pictured with the signees are Royal’s parents Robin and Richard Giles, and Jordan’s parents Andrew and Pat Jordan. Also pictured in back row are (left to right) WHS principal Kyle Ramey, WHS assistant football coach Lang Kinlaw, John Rice and WHS head football coach Mark Little. Little is a Campbell graduate.
