CHADBOURN -- Veta Mearl McPherson, 59, died Wednesday, April 25, 2007, at Regency Hospital, Florence, S.C. She was born in Columbus County, the daughter of the late Joseph and Madge Hinson McPherson.
Final rites were held Friday, April 27, at Beaverdam Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. Jackie Godwin officiating Burial followed in the McPherson Cemetery, Chadbourn. Inman Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
Survivors include her husband, Paul McPherson of Chadbourn; two sons, Norman McPherson of Fairmont, and Christopher McPherson of Clarendon; two brothers, Charles McPherson of Chadbourn, and John Wayne McPherson of Whiteville; a sister, Sue Skipper of Whiteville; and three grandchildren.
BARBARA ANN NOBLES HINSON
CHADBOURN -- Barbara Ann Nobles Hinson, 68, died Tuesday, May 1, 2007, at Columbus Regional Healthcare. She was the daughter of the late James Erwin and Agnes Ward Nobles Sr.
Final rites will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 4, at Worthington Funeral Home with Reverends Hubert Herring and Ricky Donaldson officiating. Burial will follow in the Chadbourn Memorial Cemetery. Worthington Funeral Home of Chadbourn is handling the arrangements.
Survivors include her husband, Carl Shelton Hinson of the home; daughters, Debra Prince, Vicki Strickland, and Cahty Green, all of Cerro Gordo, Lisa McLaws of Holbrook, Ariz.; sons, Bobby Carl Hinson and James Delane Hinson, both of Chadbourn; a stepson, Larry A. Hinson of Evergreen; a brother, J.E. Nobles Jr. of Fayetteville; 15 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. Thursday (tonight) at the funeral home.
WHITEVILLE -- Milton C. Webb, 77, died Sunday, April 29, 2007, at Columbus Regional Healthcare.
Final rites will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 5, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Burial will follow in the Campground Cemetery. Peoples Funeral Home of Whiteville is handling the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Vera Webb; a daughter, Gwendolyn Webb of Freeport, N.Y.; four sons, Khaleel Elamin of Jamaica, N.Y., Anthony Webb of Columbus, Ohio, Milton Webb Jr. and Christopher Webb, both of Brooklyn, N.Y.; a sister, Rosa L. Webb of Mt. Vernon, N.Y.; and a brother, Lonnie Webb of Alabama.
Viewing will be at the funeral home on Friday, May 4 from noon until 8 p.m. Viewing will be at the Kingdom Hall on Saturday from 10-11 a.m. and following the service.
TABOR CITY -- Estelle Fowler Hilbourn, 78, died Saturday, April 28, 2007, at McLeod Medical Center, Florence, S.C. She was born in Horry County, S.C., the daughter of the late Rozier Brookie Fowler and Isdell Hilbourn Fowler.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 2, at the Inman Chapel with the Rev. Hollon Norris officiating. Burial followed in the Fowler-Hilburn Cemetery, Tabor City. Inman Funeral Home of Tabor City handled the arrangements.
Survivors include her husband, Rev. Dewey Hilbourn of Tabor City; a son, John Hilbourn of Nakina; a daughter, Lucille Dameron of Tabor City; a brother, Harvey B. Fowler of Tabor City; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

WHITEVILLE -- Patsy Smith Munn died Friday, April 27, 2007, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center, Wilmington.
Final rites were held Wednesday, May 2, at Spring Hill Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Thomas Nelson officiating. Burial followed in the Campground Cemetery. Smith Funeral Home of Whiteville handled the arrangements.
Survivors include her husband, Roland Munn; a son, Gary Smith of Whiteville; two stepsons, Sidney Munn of Columbus, Ohio and Roland Munn Jr. of Whiteville; a stepdaughter, Miriam Munn of Whiteville; four brothers, Edgar Smith, David Smith, Fred Smith, and George Smith, all of Whiteville; three sisters, Esther Gore, Clara Smith and Deloris Robinson, all of Whiteville; 10 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
BOLTON -- Edward James Freeman, 87, died Wednesday, May 2, 2007, at Columbus Regional Healthcare.
Arrangements will be announced by Peoples Funeral Home of Whiteville.
SHALLOTTE -- Evangelist Clara Inez Hill Green, 56, died Sunday, April 29, 2007, at Brunswick Community Hospital, Bolivia.
Final rites will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 5, at Shallotte Middle Schooll with Apostle Charles J. Randall officiating. Burial will follow in Mulberry Cemetery, Shallotte. Smith Funeral Home of Whiteville is handling the arrangements.
Survivors include five children, Dante L. Hill of Peoria, Ill., Ronald Green Jr. and Sharlily D. Green, both of Jonesboro, Ga., Sharonda Green and Katia C. Green, both of the home; her husband, Ronald Green Sr.; eight grandchldren, her sisters and brothers, Lillie P. Gause and Norwood Guase, both of Longwood, Sandra Price, Glenda Long and Alice Hill, all of Shallotte, and David Earl Butler of Maryland, her stepsisters and stepbrothers, Bobby Hill of Homer, La., George Henry Hill of Shallotte, Joseph Hill of Brunswick, Mabelene Bernard, Anna Hill and Betty Hill, all of Shallotte, Dora Robinson of Supply and Eddie Hill of Longwood.
There will be a wake on Friday, May 4 from 6-7 p.m. at st. Delight Pentecostal Church, 800 St. Delight Road, Little River, S.C. Viewing will be atl the school following the service.
