1987 Whiteville High School state football championship reunion set for Friday |

The 1987 Whiteville High School state 2A championship football team will celebrate the 20th anniversary of that 15-0 season on Friday, Nov. 2. The reunion will include a luncheon/fund-raiser from noon until 2 p.m., at the Interim Health banquet center, and a barbecue dinner, beginning at 5:30 p.m., at the WHS football practice field prior to the WHS-South Columbus game. The Wolfpack-Stallion game will begin at 7:30 at Legion Stadium. Both events are open to the public. The luncheon event will include addresses by coaches and players from the 1987 team and game films from the season will be shown at both events. Tickets to each event are selling for $15 and there is a $25 ticket that will cover both events. Accompanying children under 10 can eat free. Ticket purchases and donations can be made at Whiteville High School or by contacting Mary Ann Tyndall at 642-5780. Tickets can also be purchased at each of the events. The program for the luncheon event follows: Kristin Rodgers and Kelly Fontaine will speak on behalf of the Natalie Padrick Platt Memorial Scholarship. Kevin Harrelson will recognize sponsors for the reunion events and Phil Justice will adjourn the gathering.
