Outgoing Columbus Regional Healthcare CEO Bill Clark lights a luminary Wednesday evening in front of the hospital during a ceremony to mark the beginning of a tobacco-free campus. Beginning today, use of all tobacco is banned from the building and grounds for “a healthier environment for everyone who comes here to work, receive care or visit.” Amid the luminaries were 33 pairs of shoes representing the 33 North Carolinians who die each day from tobacco-related illnesses.
