Candidate profiles start today

With municipal elections set for Nov. 6, and early voting already underway, The News Reporter asked the candidates to answer a brief survey on why they deserve to win.

Their responses begin on page 6-A of our printed edition.

Each candidate was asked to respond to the same three issues. After several surveys were returned or lost by the U.S. Postal Service, The News Reporter extended the deadline to Oct. 26 at 5 p.m.

In addition, candidates who did not reply were contacted by the newspaper when possible to ensure they had received their surveys.

Following is the first installment in this series. Any candidate who has not received a questionnaire should contact Jefferson Weaver at 642-4104, ext. 227 immediately to participate in the survey.
Candidates were asked to discuss the following issues:

1. Why are you the best qualified candidate for this position? (education, experience, etc.)

2. What do you see as the most challenging issue facing your town? How would you deal with this challenge?

3. Where would you like to see your town in 20 years?
