County Fair opens Tuesday

The Columbus County Agricultural Fair gets underway Tuesday with a 3:30 p.m. parade through Whiteville. The Whiteville High School homecoming parade will follow.

Fairgrounds open at 5 p.m. with a nightly schedule of competitions, midway rides, games, food booths, exhibit halls, educational and commercial booths, livestock and dog shows, and an exceptional line-up of entertainment.

The fair will be held nightly, with gates opening at 5 p.m., on Saturday at 3 p.m. and Sunday at noon. (See a complete schedule of events in last Thursday’s County Fair tabloid in The News Reporter.)

Gate admission is $6, and arm bands for midway rides are $14.

Tuesday is school night with a $1 discount on gate admission for students.

Thursday is half-gate night, with a $3 discount on admission and a $2 discount for arm bands.

The fair will conclude Sunday with a 1:30 p.m. gospel sing. However, the gates, midway and exhibit halls will open at noon and close at 8 p.m.
