WHS takes softball win |

The Whiteville Lady Wolfpack collected 18 hits Tuesday night in a 13-3 non-conference softball victory over the visiting West Columbus Lady Vikings. The game was halted in the fifth inning by the 10-run rule. Shortstop Kayla Batchelor led the WHS batting order with four hits, including a pair of doubles and three runs batted in. Winning pitcher Dallas Hewett, Nicole Storms Ashae Covington, Danielle Cassidy, Aerial Smith and Hannah Mill had two hits each. Storms, Hewett and Elizabeth Williams each had a double for the Lady Wolfpack, which upped its season record to 5-2. Kelsey Lynn also had a hit. Catcher Brooke Cartrette had two hits for West Columbus while Bobbi Nealy, Leanna Strickland, Morgan Walker, Whitney Godwin and Jessica Hayes. Whiteville will have its next outing on April 15 when it is scheduled to visit South Columbus in a 7 p.m., in Waccamaw 1A-2A Conference game. West Columbus will travel to play Fairmont Friday night at 7 in a Southeastern Conference game.
