The West Columbus Vikings grabbed back-to-back Southeastern 1A-2A Conference baseball wins over the Red Springs Red Devils Thursday and Friday.
The two victories put West Columbus’ conference record at 5-4.

Ronald Thompson, who had two hits, had a two-run double in the second inning.
On Friday at West Columbus, Coach Ricky Young’s Vikings topped the Red Devils 3-1 with Aaron Lowery pitching a four-hitter.

Ronald Thompson hit his fourth home run of the season for one of the Viking runs, and Josh Coleman delivered a key run-scoring single in the fifth inning.

Timothy Brown and Adam Hunt each had two hits as the Vikings took their third straight win to put their season record at 7-10.

West Columbus led 2-0 until the fifth when the Red Devils scored their only run. The Vikings answered with a run in the bottom of the fifth.

West Columbus will entertain South Columbus tonight at 7 in a non-conference game that had been rained out early in the season.

The Vikings will play Tuesday at St. Pauls on Friday at East Bladen as they are vying for the Southeastern Conference’s top 1A seed in the state playoffs.
