SCHS wins two
over Patriots

BURGAW - Dusty Duncan and Ethan Ward picked up pitching victories while Dakota Piver, Bryant Edwards and Buster James clouted home runs Tuesday in South Columbus High’s baseball doubleheader sweep of visiting Pender.

South Columbus won the opener 13-2 and took the second game 8-1 to lift its Waccamaw Conference record to 5-4. The first game was halted in the third inning by the 10-run rule.

Coach Willie Gore’s Stallions’ have an 11-7 season record, including five straight conference victories.

South Columbus will travel to Boiling Spring Lakes Friday to take on conference-leading South Brunswick at 7 p.m.

In the girls softball doubleheader , conference co-leader Pender took wins of 10-0 and over the Lady Stallions, who remain winless in conference play.
