ADDIE O DELLA ‘DELLA’
SMITH


TABOR CITY -- Addie O Della “Della” Smith, 86, died Tuesday, April 29, 2008, in Premier Living at Lake Waccamaw. She was born in Brunswick County, the daughter of the late Foster and Addie Todd Harper and the widow of Ernest L. Smith Sr.


Final rites will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 2, at Pireway Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Brooks Sykes officiating. Burial will follow in Austin Long Cemetery at Nakina. Inman Funeral Home of Tabor City is handling the arrangements.


She is survived by three daughters, Magdalene Norris of Clarendon, Faye Taylor and Margaret Strickland, both of Whiteville; two sons, Ernest L. Smith Jr. of Loris, S.C. and Billy W. Smith of Whiteville; a sister, Princess Smith of Darlington, S.C.; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.


Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, May 1 at the funeral home.

ROBERT ‘BOBBY’
THERRIN BENNETT


BEULAVILLE -- Robert “Bobby” Therrin Bennett, 64, died Sunday, April 27, 2008, at Lenoir Memorial Hospital in Kinston.


A graveside service was held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 1, at Union Valley Baptist Church Cemetery. Worthington Funeral Home of Chadbourn is handling the arrangements.


He is survived by a daughter, Karen Ann Bennett Hodge of Whiteville; a son, Robert Therrin Bennett Jr. of Little River, S.C.; and four grandchildren.

JOYCE MARIE BALDWIN


NEWARK, N.J. -- Joyce Marie Baldwin “Jay Baby,” 64, formerly of Whiteville, died Sunday, April 27, 2008.


Final rites will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 2, at Welches Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Whiteville with Pastor Thurman L. Chestnutt officiating. Burial will follow in the Campground Cemetery in Whiteville. Union Funeral Home of Whiteville is handling the arrangements.


She is survived by her mother, Ophelia Davis; four children, Kim Baldwin, Tara Baldwin, Michael Baldwin, and Derrick Baldwin.


Viewing will be held on Thursday, May 1 from noon until 6 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the funeral chapel and one hour prior to the services at the church and following the services.

DARRIN G. CARTER


HALLSBORO -- Darrin Glen Carter, 38, of Hallsboro, died Sunday, April 27, 2008. He was born Nov. 29, 1969, the son of Betty Brooks Carter of Hallsboro and the late Bobby Carter.

He was a graduate of Whiteville High School and St. Andrews Presbyterian College in Laurinburg where he received a bachelor’s degree.


Final rites will be at 3 p.m. Thusday, May 1, at Honey Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Hallsboro with Reverends Ricky Martin, Mike Jacobs and Robert Duncan officiating. Burial will follow in Columbus Memorial Park, 1227 South Madison St., Whiteville. Peacock’s Chapel In The Pines is handling the arrangements.


He is survived by his wife, Shannon Carter; three sons, Justin Combs, Chanin Stocks and Glen Carter all of the home; his mother; a brother Darryl Carter of Hallsboro; two sisters, Dena Carter Mullins of Whiteville and DeLynda Carter Ward of Wilkesboro.


In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Education Fund for Justin Combs, Chanin Stocks and Landon “Glen” Carter in care of Waccamaw Bank, 110 J.K. Powell Boulevard, Whiteville, N.C. 28472.


Visitation will be held from 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

MARCUS ‘MARK’ HULON
WARREN


CAROLINA BEACH -- Marcus “Mark” Hulon Warren, 55, formerly of Clinton, died at his home. He was born in Sampson County, the son of the late Henry Hulon Warren.


Warren was a banker with Branch Banking & Trust for 29 years and was a member of First Baptist Church of Whiteville.


A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, May 4, at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home in Clinton with Rev. Bill Fryar officiating. Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home of Clinton is handling the arrangements.


He is survived by two daughters, Margaret Ann “Meggie” Warren of Wilmington and Jennie Marlene Warren Senter of Knoxville, Tenn.; his mother, Ann Parker Warren of Southport; and a sister, Daphne W. DeLaney of Lake Waccamaw.

JOYCE MARIE BALDWIN


NEWARK, N.J. -- Joyce Marie “Jay Baby” Baldwin, 64, formerly of Whiteville, died Sunday, April 27, 2008.


Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Union Funeral Home of Whiteville.

CLYDE VINSON WILLIAMSON


EVERGREEN -- Clyde Vinson Williamson, 80, died Saturday, April 26, 2008, in Columbus Regional Healthcare. He was the son of the late Wilson and Lula Edwards Williamson and was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army.


He was preceded in death by a daughter, Delores Hoover in 1994. He retired from Coble Dairy Products in the Lexington area.


Final rites were heldTuesday, April 29, at Macedonia Baptist Church with the Rev. Vernon Williamson officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Worthington Funeral Home of Chadbourn handled the arrangements.
He is survived by his wife, Eva Britt Williamson; a daughter, Gloria Whaley of Clarendon; a son, Jerome Williamson of Chadbourn; a brother, Leroy Williamson of Evergreen; sisters, Marleen Meares, Margaret Barnes and Emma Bowen, all of Evergreen; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

SHERRY KELLY


WHITEVILLE -- Sherry Kelly, 40, of Whiteville, died Sunday, April 27, 2008 at Waccamaw Senior Living Center in Lake Waccamaw.


Final rites will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 1, at Cherry Grove Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Kenneth Davis officiating. Peoples Funeral Home of Whiteville is handling the arrangements.


Survivors include her mother, Cynthia Davis Kelly of Richmond, Texas; two brothers, Michael Best of Maryland and Shaun Kelly of Whiteville; maternal grandparents, J.B. and Arlene Davis of Whiteville.


Viewing will be at the funeral home from 1-8 p.m. Wednesday and 9-11 a.m. Thursday. There will be no viewing at the church Thursday.


Friends may visit at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Davis, 756 Bitmore Road, Whiteville.

GWENDOLYN ‘GWEN’
FIELDS DEAVER


BLADENBORO -- Gwen Deaver, 87, died Monday, April 28, 2008. She was born in Columbus County the daughter of the late Quince and Rosella Fields. She was the widow of James Lonnie Deaver. She was also predeceded in death by three grandchildren.


Final rites will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 1, at New Center Baptist Church with Rev. George Langley officiating. Burial will follow in the Deaver Cemetery. Bladen Funeral Home of Elizabethtown is handling the arrangements.


She is survived by four sons, Freddy Deaver of Pinopolis, S.C., Johnny Deavers of Bladenboro, Charles Deaver of Prattville, Ala. and Windy Deavers of Clayton; a daughter, Gwenella Ellis of Bladenboro; two stepsons, Gerald Deaver of Lumberton, and Jimmy Deaver of Alaska; a stepdaughter, Daphine Coleman of Chadbourn; and a sister, Rosa Bailey of Florence, S.C.; 23 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.


The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 30 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

HARRIS J. BELLAMY


CLARKTON -- Harris J. Bellamy, 78, died Tuesday, April 22, 2008, near Chadbourn.
Bellamy was a United States Army veteran serving in the Korean War.


Final rites were held Monday, April 28, at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Timothy A. Lance officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Peoples Funeral Home of Whiteville handled the arrangements.


He is survived by his two sons, Harris Bellamy Jr. and James Allen Bellamy, both of the home; three sisters, Sadie Lee Bellamy of Jersey City, N.J., Rosa Lee Lewis of Philadelphia, Pa., and Jeannie Clarida of Arizona; five brothers, Lewis Bellamy, Hubert Bellamy, and Lee Vonnie Bellamy, all of Whiteville, Thurman Bellamy of Jersey City, N.J., and Henry Bellamy of South Carolina.
