Vietnam memorial ‘wall’ coming to county

Veterans organizations have confirmed a date for the exhibit in Columbus County of a Vietnam Memorial Wall replica. County commissioners were briefed on the planned visit at their meeting Tuesday evening.

Known as “The Wall”, the display will be available for viewing 24 hours a day from Oct. 9-13, with the location to be announced. No admission will be charged.

The Vietnam Veterans of Columbus County, Chapter 962, with assistance from the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Marine Corps League, are responsible for bringing The Wall here.

Veterans organizations are asking for monetary donations to help fund the event, and tax deductible donations may be made at any Waccamaw Bank location.
