A. R. AMMONS POETRY CONTEST,
Sponsored by BB&T, Reuben Brown House Preservation Society and The News Reporter


Rules of 2008 Contest:

1. Division V shall be for original poetry written by students enrolled in undergraduate college coursework. Eligible individuals will be those enrolled at the time of submission in an undergraduate course in a North Carolina college or technical school or those enrolled in out-of-state undergraduate institutions who are residents of Columbus County. Students simultaneously enrolled in college and high school coursework may choose the division in which they compete, but may compete in only one division.

2. All entries must be accompanied by an Official Entry Form or a copy.  A student may enter up to five poems.  THE ENTRANT’S NAME SHOULD NOT APPEAR ON THE POEM(S), BUT ONLY ON THE ENTRY FORM. Entries may be mailed in by any student or college personnel, but THE ENTRANT MUST HAVE SIGNED THE ENTRY FORM PERSONALLY.

3. Cash prizes shall be awarded by the judges for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places, certificates for Honorable Mention.

4.  All entries will be judged anonymously by a committee, and all prizes will be awarded solely at the discretion of the judges.

5.  This year’s entries must be postmarked by February 16, 2008 and must be received by the Committee Secretary no later than February 23, 2008.
